Long-time drummer, first time caller...
Hi all, I'g new to Drum Forum and am looking for some guidance for cleaning use One thousand Custom cymbals -- specifically, a G Custom 22" Dry Ride that has a bit of dirt and finger oil on it. I used to clean my bright Zildjian cymbals with Groove Juice, just that stuff is way too strong and I'one thousand worried well-nigh stripping logos from my non-brilliants.
From what I was able to read here and elsewhere online, but bar soap and warm water should practise the trick. Say, Dial dish lather and a gentle scrub with a hand towel? Dearest the cymbal and want to requite it a good cleaning without stripping away any protective layer that may remain. Thanks!

If it is oil, try Dawn dish soap, hot water and an old t-shirt.
I am a large fan of "Don't remove mojo!", though!

You're trying to clean a 1000 custom dry ride? Those come unlathed and black/dark-brown patina, I don't know how well it volition clean.
This is the xx I used to take, added some rivets to give it just a flake of sustain. I enjoyed it when I had it

How-do-you-do all, I'm new to Pulsate Forum and am looking for some guidance for cleaning employ K Custom cymbals -- specifically, a One thousand Custom 22" Dry out Ride that has a bit of dirt and finger oil on it. The easiest solution…exit them be.
I personally prefer the evolving sound and look of naturally finished cymbals - so I never clean mine. But if yous're going to try, apply Dawn and warm water simply.

The but probem I come across is sweat. I would launder that off right away equally the acid/table salt can impairment the metallic (which reminds me I should do it subsequently terminal weeks gig, just in case). Some people sitting in have vera acidic/sweaty hands as well. Just beware of whatever salty/acidic liquid. I don't encounter how normal rain water would practice whatsoever impairment?
Whatever gunk that comes off with soap and warm h2o is ugly, I would clean that as well, but if it'due south just finger prints/regular skin oil, that's patina in my book.
As the OP mentions, brilliant stop cymbals accept polishing well, but it really removes metal (hence the term "annoying"), and so a regular terminate cymbal won't take the aforementioned surface ever again after polishing.

Not to sidetrack the thread only a cymbal will not get damaged past the sweat/oil from normal treatment (it will only touch on the looks, not the structure).

I guess information technology depends on the sweat, and how long it stays on the surface. I've had integral harm to the surface happening from a gentleman dropping sweat (extra-acidic/salty?) on a cymbal and me not cleaning the cymbals afterwards.

Thanks for the help. Looks like there is a trivial chip of finger oil on it, so I'll just wipe it downwardly with a dry out towel and exit them exist. Seems to be the majority guidance here. Thank you, all!
